How do I sell a book for free via Amazon.com’s US Kindle store?
I have a short story that's an excerpt of a longer novel. I'd like to give the short story away as a teaser, with a link to the full book--but Amazon's Kindle Digital Publishing site sets a minimum price of $0.99. Many authors seem to have figured out a way to set the price at 99 cents and get it reduced to zero (a 100% discount, the site reads). Anyone know how to do that?

dollI don’t know but I really like your idea. email lilydolly if you find out with the answer. Good thinking. I am told by others you can sell like this using an apple computer and the istore.
Something more to look in to. Another well used well advertised medium to sell your book online.

You need to have the story published on other platforms like SmashWords, which will list things for free. Once the story is listed elsewhere for free, inform KDP and they will do a ‘price match.’ Be aware that is can take awhile (2–3 weeks) and if several people (your friends or family) report the free listing, it might make Amazon move faster.
