are discount clothing stores the true designers or knockoffs?

No, not necessarily. They could be real! Most designers ship their merchandise to a discount store after it doesn’t sell at full price, because it’s better to get SOMETHING for it rather than nothing. That’s why TJMaxx and Marshall’s carry a lot of Coach purses and Dooney & Bourke bags, and Seven for All Mankind jeans. Items in those stores are guaranteed authentic, and they are sold at a discount because for some reason, they didn’t sell at full price elsewhere.
Another good discount clothing store is Century 21 in Manhattan. They also sell inventory that never sold at the larger department stores, as well as when companies make a mistake and overproduce a certain product. Instead of throwing out the extras, they sell it at a discount. I got a guaranteed authentic Christian Dior Girly bag there for 30% off! It was last season’s, but I didn’t care.
The bottom line is, if it’s a national chain, it’s always authentic, by law. If it’s some rinky dink discount store or a mall kiosk, it’s probably a knockoff.
Try:
TJMaxx
Marshall’s
Century21
Overstock.com
Ashford.com
they are supposed to carry last years styles (example: Saks Off 5th),
if it says that it carrries designer clothing (Marshalls, TJ Maxx) then it is supposed to be the true clothing. might be some irregulars, but it needs to state that on the tag.
Sometimes they really are desginer things- with flaws, such as a mark on the clothing. Sometimes they are really designer things- they are just things that nobody wants to buy, therefore no one sells it except for the discount stores who get it from the manufacturer for a cheap price so they can sell it cheaper. So yes, they mainly are real designer things.
